SCENT AND COGNITION
The olfactory nerve is what manages our sense of smell, and it’s directly linked to the part of the brain that monitors memories and emotions. As such, scent affects mood, concentration, memory recall and emotion.

STORAGE: Store in simple cardboard or open earthen dish or shell.

TRADITIONAL BURNING: Open a window for the flow of energy. Holding the smudge stick by one end, use a lighter to ignite the tip 10 seconds. Blow out any open flames so that the leaves slowly smolder. Next, wave the smudging wand around to direct the fragrant, cleansing smoke as you pray for the needs of your spirit and life including peace, positive energy and the removal of all despair and negativity. Catch the ashes in a heat-resistant dish. After about 5 minutes, close the window/s. Of course, never leave burning smudges unattended and make sure it is fully extinguished. If having trouble smoldering, place in open sunny room a couple of days to remove moisture from bundle.
